Ousted SC Chief Justice Renato Corona and Vice President Jejomar Binay
Vice President Jejomar Binay is trying everything to disgrace President Benigno Aquino (PNoy) hoping that in so doing the man whom the latter is supporting to run for president in 2016, Mar Roxas, will also be disrespected.
What is happening, however, is that no matter what the political issue he tries to hit PNoy with, it always backfires and makes him all the more look ridiculous.
Take for instance the latest boo-boo Binay made when he confessed to the public in a radio interview that he advised PNoy against pushing for the impeachment of former Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona, the alleged midnight appointee of Aquino’s predecessor former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, saying, that such action will be perceived by the people as dictatorial.
Binay reportedly told PNoy that the latter is not only in charge of the executive branch, but he also has the control of the legislative branch, and now, to encroach on the judiciary is simply tyrannical.
For sure Binay already knew then that PNoy was serious in running after the corrupt in government, like Corona and, certainly, he knew then, too, how he stood as a government official. Talking about birds of the same feather!
Well, history has shown that, sitting as an impeachment court, the Senate found Corona guilty of betraying the public trust and was ousted as chief magistrate for not declaring some of his wealth on his Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN).
If PNoy had the political will to initiate the ouster of Corona and was able to convince the Senate the seriousness of the matter for them to convene as an impeachment court, why didn’t Binay talked to his friends and allies in the Senate, specifically Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile, who was then the head of the Senate, to go against it?
So, what does this say of Binay?
Simple. The man who wants badly to be president just doesn’t have the political will, not even half his balls, to go after the corrupt in government, like him.
Besides, why is he divulging this only now? Is he trying to say that Corona was an honest man just because PNoy says otherwise?
Why is Binay’s spirit of contradiction coming out only now if he had known that he always had an opposing view against PNoy’s? Why did he stay that long in PNoy’s Cabinet if he could not stomach the president?
What good does it do to Binay in his quest for the presidency if majority of Filipinos approved the Corona verdict, while he is showing his partiality for Corona?
I find this stupid as much as I find Binay calling PNoy a dictator, ludicrous.
He is also making an enemy out of the Marcos clan for mentioning again that word which makes reference of them.
That is good for Binay and I hope he stumbles some more.

Binay won the last time because nobody paid notice. He was little john waiting and walking slowly but steadily while David and Goliath was fighting it out. This worked well for him. Before anyone can say VP, he was waving the checkered flag on one hand and the finish line on the other. He settled to this stature for several years. Unreachable, infallible, almost immortal. Then the slide started. Startled but unfettered, he figured it was a fluke. Yet he slid further and further down. Suddenly, he seemed tentative, unsure, a square peg. He criticized pnoy’s admin, Pnoy responded “he’s free to leave anytime”. Humble pie. Expressed his desire to be endorsed in a Kapihan event, Pnoy thumbs him down. Bitter pill. He resigned with guns ablaze, backfired. Does a TSONA, boom panes. You see, he’s never been in this position, ever! He started as an underdog in Makati in 1988. He won and never looked back since then. He is in a political quicksand. The more his team fights the sinking, he sinks further still. Unless he does a rethink of his strategy, he will never recover. Survey will be out this month. If he stagnates, dire but still recoverable. But if he slides and breaches the 30s and Mar leaps to the 20s, it would not be a stumble, it would be a crash. In desperation, he’ll drum up some anger on Mar in November for anniversary of Yolanda. But come January to February, it’s Cory magic once again. An advantage he can no longer use.
Interesting read. Short but incisive analysis on the contemptuous Binay. Agree with you. Looks like Roxas gaining more adherents after PNoy endorsement. I just hope the outspoken host of Rated K program won’t spoil the fun Roxas is having now with untimely remarks.
In the end, the Du30 armada trumped everyone else.
