The ever pompous and pretentious Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada thinks that the Filipino people are still crazy about him that it would be a walk-in-the-park for him if he decides to run for president.
Note that Erap has been threatening to run for president in 2016 if and when Sen. Grace Poe will eventually be disqualified due to her bogus natural born Filipino status for being a foundling and her untruthful claim that she has complied the 10-year residency requirement allowing her to be a presidential candidate in 2016, and Vice President Jejomar Binay excluded from the presidential list of candidates due to a string of corruption cases against him.
Legal experts are saying that it is unlikely that the decision of Comelec’s Second Division disqualifying Poe for failing to meet the 10-year residency requirement mandated by the Constitution for a presidential candidate will ever make a reversal of their decision.
On the contrary they are saying that the unanimous decision rendered by Comelec Commissioners Al Parreno, Arthur Lim and Sheriff Abas might even influence the result of the three other disqualification petitions filed against Poe before the Comelec’s First Division.
In effect what we are saying is that, most likely, Poe will be out of contention and if she loves this country as she claims she does, then she should respect the rule of law and bow out gracefully. Anyway it is all her undoing.
Having this kind of scenario, I have the feeling that Erap will not wait anymore whether or not Binay bombs out, too, before he decides to throw his hat in the presidential derby.
With Binay losing fast his grip in the preferred presidential candidate poll surveys and with declared vice presidential candidate Sen. Ferdinand ‘Bongbong” Marcos seemingly egging Erap to run in tandem with him in 2016, Erap might yet decide his presidential ambition much sooner than later.
But let us not fool ourselves, for Chrissake!
Erap as replacement for Poe and Binay is like going from bad to worst! The country does not deserve anymore his kind of leadership.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating, as they say. Well, we have seen Erap led this country before, only to say later –” what have we gotten into?” It brought the country nothing but shame.
Now you add another arrogant and presumptuous politician in the person of Bong Marcos to the equation with Erap Estrada and all you get is a recipe laden with disaster for our resurgent country.
Thank goodness there is a Rodrigo Duterte from Davao City whose timely declaration to be a presidential candidate in 2016 can very well offset and negate the scandalous ambitions of a Estrada and a Marcos.
