First there is Apollo Quiboloy, the founding leader and Executive Pastor of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name based in Davao City who, in his younger days, claim he has heard the ‘voice of God’, when he was in Korea attending the World Conference of the International Youth Corps, repeatedly telling him, “Gamiton Ta Ka (I will Use You)” three times.
Many moons ago, and after finding unimaginable success in creating his own religious sect by fooling people all over the world with his own religious beliefs, he self-glorified himself by shamelessly and sanctimoniously proclaiming to his vast followers, both local and foreign, that he is has become the ‘Appointed Son of God.’
Quiboloy now says to his ‘sons and daughters’, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through ME”. He is not only preaching himself as a classic exemplar of Jesus, who, as the Son of God, made that revelation in John 14:6, but unreservedly admitting that he, Quiboloy, is the son of God in modern times.
The reason for the prologue is because boxing champ and politician Manny Pacquiao seems to be following the footsteps of Quiboloy.
Pacquiao also claims that he, too, has heard the ‘voice of God’ and that is why he is a changed man now – meaning more focused on boxing, more religious and none of the womanizing ways anymore.
The only difference Pacquiao has with the pretentious and egotist Quiboloy is that the former says it was God the Son, Jesus Christ, who told him that He is the way and the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him.
For sure, like Quiboloy, Pacquiao, too, is suffering from delusion.
Because of my preceding post, ‘Pacquiao’s misplace calling’, (https://quierosaber.wordpress.com/2014/10/06/pacquiaos-misplaced-calling/), I hope that Pacquiao will continue hearing the ‘voice of God’ so he will do the things that will glorify the country by achieving more honor and recognition in sports during international competitions.
Hopefully, too, that Pacquiao won’t confess to the media that he heard the ‘voice of God’ telling him to give his full support to Vice President Jejomar Binay’s campaign for the presidency in the 2016 election. That would be disturbing and demoralizing.
But, what I dread most really is if and when Pacquiao admits having heard the ‘voice of God’ advising him to accept Binay’s proposal for him to be his running mate in the 2016 election.
That, certainly, is idiocy/insanity and both will be a calamity to the nation!
