My previous blog about this heartless couple can be viewed at this link: https://quierosaber.wordpress.com/2014/08/03/surrogate-pregnancy-turns-bad/.
The reason why I am writing a sequel to it is simply to introduce you to the couple whom you can see here with Pipah, the twin sister of Gammy.
As mentioned already the couple, David and Wendy Farnell, abandoned Gammy in Thailand when they discovered his disability and left him with his surrogate mother, 21-year-old Pattaramon Chanbua.
While it is true that no parent wants a child with disability, as he claims, the fact, however, is that with surrogacy you can’t just blame the proxy mother, who carries the pregnancy for a couple who are not able bear a child, and for a fee, for any defect that comes out of it.
What I am saying is that the practice carries with it some risks that they alone should be responsible for, especially considering the couple’s ages.
But that is neither here nor there now.
What is making this sordid story even rotten is the alleged shady character of Farnell.
It was reported that in the late 1990s, Farnell was convicted of 22 child sex offences, committed while he was in his 20s, including one against a girl who was just seven. The sentencing judge said the victims had been ‘robbed of their childhood’.
Farnell was sentenced to three years jail in 1997 for sexually molesting two girls in ‘secretive meetings’ in his shed or house, in 1982 and 1983, when the girls were aged seven and 10.
It was not until the women were adults that they made complaints and court documents said the women had suffered ‘depression’ and ‘difficulty forming relationships’ as a result of the abuse.
